But in addition to that list, there’s also the issue of insurance, including professional indemnity insurance.
Currently, the demand for suitably qualified, experienced consulting engineers exceeds the supply. So it’s not entirely surprising that design mistakes resulting from the pressure that engineers are working under are starting to represent an increasing risk in the mining industry across the continent.
And to make matters worse, professional indemnity insurance in Africa is costly and only available from a limited number of specialist insurers. |
